    Celebrating Le Mois de la Francophonie 2024

    March 8th to 14th, 2024

    Le Montréaler exhibition is presented for the first time in its entirety in Choi Centre Cloud House. Exhibition paying tribute to The New Yorker magazine and the city of Montreal. 52 illustrators and 10 authors from Montreal have created covers for the magazine, paying homage to the Montreal metropolis. Chosen for their talent, unique style, and the diversity of their backgrounds, these creators had carte blanche to offer you their vision of Montreal.

     

    On Thursday March 7th, the Choi Centre Cloud House held a successful opening ceremony for the exhibition to celebrate Le Mois de la Francophonie 2024. The event was graced by the presence of Her Excellency Mme. Jennifer May, Dr. Jonathan K.S. Choi, and Director of the Quebec Office in Beijing, M. Bard Nordby. Additionally, Cathon, a Canadian author, illustrator, and comic artist, also shared her creative process during a special event the following Saturday, showcasing her creative working process with the public visitors for the exhibition.

    Cathon is an author, illustrator, and comic artist based in Montreal. Since 2013, she has been publishing humorous and offbeat comics with various Quebec publishers, often drawing inspiration from genre literature and popular culture. Her titles include "The List of Things That Exist" (with Iris, 2 volumes, 2013-2015), "Vampire Cousins" (with Alexandre F. Rousseau, 2014), "The Pineapples of Anger" (2018), and "The Investigations of Sgoubidou" (2020). She also publishes albums and comics for young people, including "The Troubles of Lapinette" (2015), "Mimose & Sam" (4 volumes, 2016 to 2022), and "The Drawing Too Cute" (with Roxane Brouillard, 2023). These albums are translated into about ten languages, including Mandarin and Korean. Some of these works are being adapted for the screen. Cathon has presented her work internationally, notably in the United States, Cuba, France, Belgium, and Japan.
